Marr Contracting switches to renewable diesel from Neste in Australia
From June 2022 onwards, Marr Contracting has been using renewable diesel from Neste in their heavy lift luffing tower crane fleet in Australia. This is an important step towards the business’ journey to net-zero carbon emissions and supports Marr in its commitment to reduce carbon emissions and impact on the environment as part of their 2021 Social Value Strategy.
The switch to Neste-produced 100% renewable diesel comes after significant consultation with Marr clients and leaders within Australia’s construction industry on the best solution for transitioning away from fossil fuels. After investigating alternative power sources and taking the time to understand the issues associated with currently available options, Marr’s R&D team scoured the world for the best solution.
Switching to renewable diesel from Neste enables a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions
Renewable diesel from Neste is produced from 100% renewable raw materials. Neste’s renewable diesel is a drop-in fuel, fully compatible with all diesel engines, not requiring any modifications to the existing vehicles or fuel distribution infrastructures.
Growing availability of renewable diesel and other renewable products
Neste currently has a renewable products global production capacity of 3.3 million tons annually. Neste’s ongoing Singapore expansion project and the joint venture with Marathon in Martinez, CA, that is still pending for closing, will increase the total production capacity of renewable products to 5.5 million tons by the end of 2023, and make Neste the only global provider of renewable fuels and renewable feedstock for polymers and chemicals with a production footprint on three continents. When completed, Neste’s Rotterdam expansion project announced on 27 June, 2022, will further increase the company’s total production capacity of renewable products to 6.8 million tons by the end of 2026.
