Clariant introduces new solutions to reduce the environmental impact of plastics
Clariant is excited to present the company’s latest solutions to support the plastics industry to improve safety and efficiency, increase circularity, and reduce waste at NPE2024, happening now in Orlando, Florida.
“Since K 2022 our experts have been developing industry-leading products that minimize the impact on human health and the environment while maintaining or exceeding performance expectations,” commented Miao Zhigang, Head of Clariant’s Polymer Solutions business.
“We are very pleased to be unveiling our new AddWorks PPA, our PFAS-free Additives line at NPE2024.”
Clariant introduces AddWorks PPA, a PFAS-free processing aid compositions for polyolefin film extrusion.
At NPE 2024, Clariant is launching its new AddWorks PPA product range for customers in the polyolefin film extrusion market.
The new AddWorks PPA polymer additive range features smooth and stable processability, while also ensuring the highest possible optical film qualities (haze, gloss, clarity) by eliminating sharkskin and dye build-up effects. The film tensile, mechanical, and sealing properties are unaffected by the new compositions and the solutions exhibit high thermal stability and low or no migration, as well as low let down ratios (LDRs) ensuring competitive cost-in-use.
“Our teams have developed these solutions to be fully compliant with tightening PFAS regulations, while also combining high production line efficiency and film qualities,” commented Miao Zhigang, Head of Clariant’s Polymer Solutions business.
Clariant has developed the AddWorks PPA product line in response to increased concerns about the persistence of PFAS in the environment and the implications for human health. These new products contain no inorganic content nor silicone components and preserve high performance.
Clariant plans to launch the AddWorks PPA in Spring 2024 in all regions.
Clariant introduces Licolub PED 1316 – a wax for easier processing and better surface properties in building and construction.
Licolub PED 1316 is a new oxidized high-density polyethylene (HDPE) wax for internal and external use in PVC processing such as the extrusion of moldings, window frames, window/door tracks, pool steps/edging trim, and non-potable pipes. This offers excellent flow and surface properties for the production of consistent profiles with improved scratch resistance. In addition, Licolub PED 1316 features consistent particle size for easy processing and a clean, optically white appearance.
“To help remedy industry-wide shortages, we’re pleased to introduce our latest lubricant wax for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) processing,” added Miao Zhigang. “Our new product, Licolub PED 1316, will also offer our customers with a reliable and effective solution for their construction needs.”
Licolub PED 1316 is available in the Americas and domestically produced to facilitate rapid sampling and supply.
Expanding additive offering for color protection and thermal oxidative protection in plastic recycling.
In response to the increased use of recycled materials by compounders and polymer producers, Clariant is bringing AddWorks PKG 158 to the NORAM region. This product is a highly efficient antioxidant solution that provides outstanding color protection while also reducing thermal oxidative degradation of the polymer during multiple conversion processes.
“As our customers increase their use of recycled content, we have optimized AddWorks PKG 158 for excellent processability and to enhance the resin for end-of-life plastic recycling,” comments Eliandro Felipe, Head of Sales Americas for Additives Polymer Solutions.
With enhanced processing stabilization at elevated temperatures and its low migration attributes, AddWorks PKG 158 provides low discoloration and low plate-out attributes.
Experts are available at Booth S27083 in the South Hall Level 1 - Expo Hall at Orange County Convention Center to discuss these solutions.
