KBC launches visual MESA energy management system 7.2 for superior energy and emissions management
KBC (A Yokogawa Company) announces the launch of Visual MESA Energy Management System 7.2 (EMS), a comprehensive energy digital twin suite designed to meet the developing needs of modern energy management in processing plants across the hydrocarbon supply chain and other industrial verticals. This suite includes five key applications (see Table) that provides tailored tools for managing renewable, conventional, and hybrid energy systems, including current and forecasted prices, energy demand or production, storage (e.g., batteries, thermal energy storage devices, H2 tanks) and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. With a single, web-based platform, Visual MESA EMS provides an advanced data and KPI management system to facilitate scheduling, real-time optimization, and continuous monitoring of energy systems. Whether deployed as individual applications, in combination, or as a complete suite, version 7.2 adapts to business needs to reduce energy usage and emissions.
“Industries are at a critical point as they transition from centralized, fossil fuel-based energy systems to decentralized, renewable sources," said Carlos Ruiz, KBC's Visual MESA Product Champion. " Visual MESA EMS version 7.2 addresses the challenges of managing GHG emissions, optimising energy inventories, and integrating decision-making processes. The suite's integration with process simulation tools allows refiners to improve energy efficiency while meeting net zero goals." Ruiz added, " Visual MESA EMS 7.2 Page 2 of 2 software leverages process digital twin technology to support environmental and regulatory compliance while maintaining operational excellence."
Key features available in Visual MESA EMS version 7.2:
- Multi-Period Optimisation Automated Execution Seamlessly integrating optimal scheduling with real-time optimization for consistent decision-making.
- Enhanced Modeling Integrates with Petro-SIM® digital twin via its web API to facilitate cloud-based implementations and extend modeling and monitoring capabilities for better accuracy and insights.
- Cloud-Based Infrastructure Support New Pull/Get interface based on a web API offers flexibility and scalability for evolving business needs, which is compatible with KBC AcuityTM cloud-based infrastructure.
- Comprehensive Auditing Advanced tracking of model changes and events to improve the ability to quickly diagnose real-time data failures and resolve simulation issues.
- Enhanced KPIs Visualisation Pyramidal levels and area groupings that allow control room operators to customise their screens for better drill-down visualisation of operations and alerts.
The launch of Visual MESA EMS 7.2 technology demonstrates KBC’s commitment to provide advanced energy management and emissions reduction solutions. With its cloud and on-premises deployment options, Visual MESA EMS 7.2 software meets the demands of today’s energy challenges to Bringing Decarbonisation to Life.
Table: The five applications in the Visual MESA EMS 7.2 suite
Description and Application
- Visual MESA Energy Real Time Optimiser (ERTO / ECLRTO) - Visual MESA ERTO / ECLRTO (open or closed loop) is the real-time digital twin for energy systems cost and emissions optimization, including discrete variables (i.e., start/stop decisions).
- Visual MESA Energy Monitor (EM) - Visual MESA EM is specifically designed for energy systems monitoring (KPIs calculation, emissions, energy balances, historization, alarming, etc.).
- Visual MESA Multi-Period Optimiser (MPO) - Visual MESA MPO is the energy management tool for the optimal scheduling of energy assets, including storage inventories and forecasts (weather, demand, power and fuel prices, etc.).
- Visual MESA GHG Emissions Management (GEM) - Visual MESA GEM for real-time emissions monitoring and reporting, including auditability and traceability features.
